The ÁGORA Research Group: ways of being in dance, led by Profa. Dra. Gilsamara Moura (PPGDança / PPGAC / PRODAN) and by Profa. Dr. Márcia Mignac (PPGDança / PRODAN), is designed to welcome research related to Art, Cognition and Politics under the concept of the agora, which means meeting, assembly, public space. Just like a small city within a large one, a public breath, we conceive of the group as a star within a large constellation. ÁGORA brings together artists, researchers, students, people connected to Culture, the community in general, contributing to academic training and expanding research, processes and studies in Dance, in order to collaborate with the growth of this area of knowledge. As one of the research groups of the Postgraduate Program in Dance at the Federal University of Bahia, which has the first Doctorate in Dance in the world in a totally public institution, our contribution goes in the direction of promoting exchange between researchers and artists from other institutions with ours, as it has been configured in recent years - Université Côte D'Azur (France), Instituto Superior de Belas Artes (Paraguay), Laica Eloy Alfaro University (Ecuador), among others.

The proposition for this II Seminar, entitled «Clues to dance the unimaginable» welcomes signs, signs, traces, inventions and evidence of dancing in its complexity, that is, inseparable possibilities and insistences of action-thought, with the task of drawing attention to the protagonism of the body. One of the tracks is the tour and the other is the fable, always in the plural - gyrations and fables. Cute as acts-groupings of resistance and imbalance, that which can destabilize, remove from the comfort zone, provide other understandings. Fabulations as actions to invent, re-invent, replacing the tone of truth with an imaginary adventure, but materialized in dancing bodies.

Our actions at the II Research Seminar are crossed by fabulation tours (with guest speakers) and dance fabulations (with artist-researchers from the Ágora group) and are programmed as follows:

Nêgo Bishop
Antônio Bispo dos Santos, the Nêgo Bispo, is a farmer, formed by teachers and craftsmen, resident of Quilombo Saco-Curtume, located in the municipality of São João do Piauí. Political activist and militant of great expression in the quilombola social movement and in the struggles for land, he works in the State Coordination of Quilombola Communities of Piauí (CECOQ / PI) and in the National Coordination of Articulation of Black Rural Quilombola Communities (CONAQ). He is part of the first generation of his mother's family who had access to literacy.
Clovis Carvalho Britto
Post-Doctor in Cultural Studies in the Advanced Program of Contemporary Culture at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). PhD in Museology by the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies (ULHT), Portugal, and PhD in Sociology by the University of Brasília (UnB). Master in Sociology from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and Master in Museology from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Adjunct Professor III at the Faculty of Information Science at the University of Brasília (UnB) in the Museology Course and in the Graduate Program in Information Science. Permanent Professor in the Graduate Program in Museology at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Research Productivity Scholarship from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in the area of Museology (2020-2023). It integrates the Research Groups Culture, Memory and Development (UnB), Museology, Heritage and Memory (UnB), Regional History: Artistic Manifestations and Cultural Heritage (UEM) and Observatory of Museology in Bahia (UFBA). He has experience in the area of Social Sciences, with an emphasis on Sociology of Literature, Sociology of Religion and Anthropology of Museums and Heritage, and in Museology, with an emphasis on Museological Theory. Master in Law, State and Constitution - UnB. PhD student in Law, State and Constitution - UnB.
Helena Vieira
Helena Vieira is a researcher, transfeminist and writer. Studied Public Policy Management at USP. He was a columnist for Revista Fórum and contributed to several media outlets such as Huffpost Brasil, Galileu Magazine (cover story about transsexuality), Cadernos Globo (Body: Undefined Article), Revista Cult and Blog Agora É que São Elas from Folha de São Paulo . She was a consultant on Rede Globo's Força do Querer soap opera. Recently, she was co-author of the books "History of the LGBT Movement" organized by Renan Quinalha and James Green, "Feminist Explosion" organized by Heloísa Buarque de Holanda, "Are You Going Out? Critical Essays on Brazil", organized by Rosana Pinheiro Machado and "Nobody Releases Nobody's Hand: A Manifesto of Resistance", by publisher Clarabóia. Playwright, she was part of the project awarded by the Focus Foundation in the Scenic Arts category "Brazil Diversity", in London, with the play "Ofélia, the fat transsexual". Together with the Creation Laboratory of Porto Iracema das Artes, she developed dramaturgical research entitled "Where were the transvestites during the Dictatorship? She is currently Advisor for the Culture of Diversity at the Porto Iracema das Artes School of Art and Culture in Ceará.
Helena Katz
Combining her performance in cultural journalism with academic activities, she is a professor in the Communication Course of Body Arts and in the Program in Communication and Semiotics, at PUC-SP, in which she completed her doctorate (1994), with the thesis Um, Dois, Três. Dance is the Thought of the Body, published in 2005. He graduated in Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and Education at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (1971), and performed the role of dance critic, from 1977 to 2017, in cultural journalism in print and on television. He coordinates the Center for Dance Studies-CED, which he founded in 1986, a research group certified by CNPq. Researcher, teacher, critic and speaker in the areas of Communication, Body Arts and Policies for Culture and the Arts, develops, in partnership with Profa. Dr. Christine Greiner, Corpomídia Theory, in which she performs a new stage, with the research project "Body, communication, politics and technology: the new cognitive habits regulate the forms of life", started in 2020.
